Was working on the budget for infrastructure and supplies to bring this concept to the playa and it looks good.

The project is not destined to be an overly managed and complicated setup. Campers are not being asked to do much more than if they were camping on their own; that is to say clean up, make some food, and maybe help out with a couple events.

The next major task is fund raising because I would rather do that than charge any kind of camp fee. Then buying the items listed on the spreadsheet in Google Docs and getting them to playa.

I still maintain that this should be not unlike a group of friends camping together. No, you do not have to do yoga to be a part of camp.

Building a camp like this is not the mission of any single person. It is going to take people to get involved. To participate. To help build it. I propose we get a committee to manage the concept of the camp that includes:

structures

camp design

camp theme

camp infrastructure

camp activities

blah blah blah…

My goal is to keep it simple and entertaining. Here is the Reader’s Digest version:

We setup the camp in a way that is not only protective to us who are living there, but welcoming to those who might visit. A group of us arrive early and get things setup while a group of us remain behind and take it apart when it is all over. Nothing too complicated, just some car ports attached together and a parachute over the top for shade.

There is no “camp fee” perse”. No, but any community needs support. So all campers, each individual, will be expected to bring a meal to the camp. It may be 2 meals. This way everyone eats. AND… for those who are worried about having to be at camp for each meal – don’t. You only have to be there for the meal you commit to cooking.

Community also mean cleaning up after yourself, cus your momma is not camping with us. unless she is, and I doubt she will want to clean up after you either. Each person takes a share of the trash with you. All trash is separated as recyclables, burnables, and trash that has to be packed out.

Bonuses are we get a shower or whatever. Each piece of the camp has to come from the members of the camp. We will work that out over time. Is that simple enough?

Yes, I am modeling my idea off other camps I have been with in the past AND camps I observed. The concept is unique and since we will be in/around the gayborhood we should attract a great energy.

As some of you might be aware my plan for 2012 was a little on the extreme side. I planned on building a whole temple with scaffolding and towers with incense pots and all kinds of cool shit. This year I saw what some camps did and want to emulate a smarter concept.

Above is the AstroPups who had a somewhat similar setup in 2012, but they definitely stepped it up since whenever this is from. I am proposing creating a space for the camp with a lot of the same elements as last year but far less complicated. Using carports like these we can do something really freaking cool.

Above is my plan so far with enclosed space for tents and camping while maintaining a welcoming space for guests and events we can run. This might include yoga, tai chi, meditation or whatever we end up doing. It is Burning Man, while spiritual we can also have fun.

Car ports, new anyway, run about $300 each but we have a long way to go before we get there and can curb those costs a lot.

Doing it this way gives all involved a place protected from dust and the sun… but it also provides a designated area for guests.

Without camp fees we can work together to get the nomenclature for the camp by begging, borrowing and stealing car ports like shown in the AstroPups pic above.

I am making this proposals before we have even got started so we have time to modify them over time. BUT, I do think I am on to something.

no camp fees

everyone who camps is responsible for a meal be it lunch dinner or breakfast; so it could mean 2 meals for some and three for others, but it will be kept light. Dinner is the important one… AND that does not mean that anyone, but who is cooking that night, need be there (nothing is carved in stone but be responsible)

everyone is responsible for MOOP and taking a share of the camp trash out

GIVEN THAT!!! All camper will be responsible for minimizing MOOP which means leaving all unnecessary packaging out of Burning Man and we will be separating all trash: Recycle, burn, and other

So far that is all I got and that is all general right now. We got 11 months to make it work………….

After my experience with 2012 Burning Man it is time to make a new journey. When we started planning SG for 2012 there was a very aggressive plan that can be seen on the Facebook page. This year I will be looking at another camp’s model for the structure and setup.

Since it is late in the day and I have been updating web sites all day I will get more into it this week.

Will be looking for people genuinely interested in helping to make this happen. We will be looking to camp around 7:00 or 7:30 and E.
